This year’s RCSEd Dental Clinical Skills Competition Grand Final took place on 21 March and we are pleased to announce that Vicki Rees from the University of Liverpool is the 1st place winner of the National event.
On winning, Vicki Rees said:
It’s been an incredible day representing the University of Liverpool, and winning has left me speechless. It's been an absolute blast - from start to finish, the day was filled with so much fun! Everyone, from fellow competitors to Faculty and organisers, was incredibly friendly and supportive. I can't recommend this competition enough to my fellow students. It's not just about winning; it's about the experience and what we’ve learned together today.
Vicki won a £500 Amazon Voucher and a Digital SLR camera designed for intraoral photography, generously provided by Tom Bereznicki.
Cara Marcuccilli of University of Dundee came a close 2nd place, with Daniel Bui of the University of Birmingham University hot on the heels in 3rd place, both winning Amazon vouchers of £300 and £200 respectively.
Professor Grant McIntyre, Dean of the Dental Faculty commented:
It was such a pleasure to welcome 16 dental schools to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for the Dental Clinical Skills Competition Grand Final today. As we celebrate our 10th year of running this event, it’s been incredible to see the growing interest from the Dental Schools across the UK and Ireland. Having our Dental Faculty and Dental Council with us today was fantastic, and being able recognise and reward the talents of the next generation of dental surgeons was very rewarding.
Well done to all who competed!
