Li Shu Fan Presidential Lecture
Presidential Nomination
The Li Shu presidential Lecture will take place at the Li Shu Pui Symposium in September annually. The lecture focus will change each year, and as such the awardee will be selected in line with this. The appointed lecture will receive travelling expenses and accommodation in Hong Kong, along with a £1000 honorarium.
The selection of this lectureship is by Presidential nomination and as such there is no application process.

Sir Walter Mercer Lectureship
Trauma and Orthopaedic SSB Nomination
The Sir Walter Lectureship is awarded to the Intercollegiate Board in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery for outstanding performance at the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. The awardee also receives a medal.
This medal is awarded through nomination by the Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgical Speciality Board, and ratified by the Awards Committee, and as such there is no application process.

Stuart Letureship
Awards Committee Nomination
The Stuart Lecture was established to jointly recognise the Bicentenary of The Royal Society of Medicine (1805-2005) and the Quincentenary of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (1505-2005).
The Lectureship is awarded to an individual based on the nomination of the Awards Committee, and will deliver a lecture on a subject of the wider surgical field, for example radiology or pathology.
The selection of this lectureship takes place through the Awards Committee and as such there is no application process.

J J Mason Brown Memorial Lectureship
Paediatric Surgery SSB Nomination
The JJ Mason Brown Memorial Lectureship provides the opportunity to present Paediatric research at the Scottish Surgical Paediatric Society or the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, both of which were founded by JJ Mason Brown, former President of RCSEd.
A £100 honorarium will also be awarded.
The selection of this lectureship takes place through the Surgical Speciality Board in Paediatric Surgery, and as such there is no application process.

McKeown Medal
Nomination
The McKeown Medal provides the opportunity to one awardee annually, to present, on any surgical research, including that of the wider surgical sphere, for example the Surgical Workforce, at the 'Spring Meeting'. The awardee, along with their lecture, will receive a medal to celebrate the achievement.
This lectureship has been made possible by Mr Kenneth McKeown, CBE, who championed the creation of this medal.

John Hutton Memorial Lectureship
Dental Faculty SSB Nomination
The John Hutton Memorial Lectureship is awarded annually by the Faculty of Dental Surgery and British Society of Dental Maxillofacial Radiology, to provide the opportunity for one individual to present their research in Dental Maxillofacial Radiology.
The awardee will receive a £500 honorarium and medal alongside the lecture opportunity.
This award seeks to commemorate Dr John Hutton, FDSRCS (Edin). who was a consultant Dental Radiology at the University of Liverpool's Dental Hospital, having worked to establish the speciality of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology in its infancy.
The selection of this lectureship is conducted by the Speciality Advisory Boards within the Dental Faculty and as such there is no application process.

William Guy Lectureship
Dental Council Nomination
The William Guy Lectureship seeks to celebrate significant contributions to Dental Surgery, either through research or education and teaching. The awardee will be given the opportunity to present a lecture on their work at a prestigious College event.
This Lectureship seeks to commemorate the work of William Guy, who was internationally recognised for his brilliant teaching in both dental surgery and in wider medicine. Dr Guy worked as Dean of the Edinburgh Dental Hospital for 34 years, and promoted high standards of professional conduct and scientific attainment. His contributions were recognised during his lifetime, becoming President of BDA and Vice President of the Federation of International Dentaria. Dr Guy also received the Honorary Higher Dental Diploma from RCSEd.

Miss Annie McNeil Lectureship
SAB in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine & Dental Council Nomination
The Annie McNeil Lectureship provides one awardee the opportunity to present a lecture on oral surgery before Fellows of the College at a College event. The Lecturer will also receive a medal.
This lectureship commemorates the life of Miss Annie McNeil, a patient of Dr David Middleton, former RCSEd Council Member.
The selection of this lectureship is conducted by the SAB in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine and ratified by Dental Council, as such there is no application process.

Douglas Guthrie History of Medicine Lectureship
Nomination
The Douglas Guthrie History of Medicine Lectureship is awarded in collaboration between RCSEd and RCPEd. The lecturer is invited to present work on the History of Medicine, at one of the respective College's events. Previous lecturers have presented on the following topics:
- Cybernetic aspects of medical history" by Kenneth D Keele
- Surgery before 1850 as illustrated by the operating theatre of Old St Thomas's Hospital." by Lord Brock of Wimbledon
- "Three Scots in the service of the Czars, 1736‐1854," - John Beattie Wilson's
This lectureship seeks to commemorate Dr Guthrie who after serving in WWI became a consultant ENT surgeon at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital for sick children. After hsi retirement, he focused on the history of medicine, and founded the Scottish Society of History of Medicine in 1948.

Simpon Memorial Lecture
RCSEd Office Bearers Nomination
The Simpson Memorial Lecture is awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions in surgery, obstetrics or wider surgical work for example plain relief or anaesthesiology. The lecturer will present their work at the Triennial, be awarded a medal and a £70 honorarium.
The lectureship seeks to celebrate the life and contributions of James Young Simpson, who was a Scottish Obstetrician and the first physician to demonstrate the anaesthesia properties of chloroform.
The selection of this lectureship lies with RCSEd Office Bearers as such there is no application process.
