The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) acknowledges the significant contributions of SAS and LED doctors to the NHS and is delighted to release this dedicated resource document for the career development of SAS LED surgeons and dentists.
The SAS LED workforce currently constitutes 30% of all licensed doctors, and by 2030, the General Medical Council (GMC) predicts that SAS doctors will be the largest group on the medical register.
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh recognises the invaluable contribution SAS (Specialty Doctors, Associate Specialist) and LED (Locally Employed Doctors) make to the NHS. And has established a dedicated SAS LED Committee (SASLC), with SAS LED representatives on each of the RCSEd Surgical Specialty Boards.
RCSEd encourages its SAS Members and Fellows to actively participate in various committees and faculties, fostering both personal professional development and the College's mission to enhance patient care.
The College offers a comprehensive portfolio of professional educational resources tailored to SAS and LED doctors.
This guidance document outlines the key resources available to SAS LED surgeons and dentists for career development and advancement.
