International Fellows and Members are eligible for a pro-rata reduction in their subscription fee in the year they are elected, based on the number of days in the year remaining after election and will be invoiced with your election fee on receipt of your online application.
UK Fellows and Members are eligible for the Fellows First/Career Creator and will be invoiced with your election fee on receipt of your online application.
Surgical Fellows and Members working in a non-surgical post are eligible for a lower rate of subscription. Those eligible are those working in: Accident & Emergency, Anesthesia, Optometry, General Surgical Practice or any medical post and those who work for a Pharmaceutical company to name a few, this list is not exhaustive.
Dental Fellows and Members who work in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Dental Radiology, Dental Public Health or any non-dental post and apply and will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Applications can be made in writing (email) together with confirmation of your post from your employer, on the appropriate headed stationery and emailed to membership@rcsed.ac.uk. Offer letters will not be accepted. All those on a Non-Surgical rate will no longer receive the Surgeon.
Fellows and Members who are in training or are SAS grade, who are paying a full subscription rate, working in the NHS, with that being their sole source of income, and working or training less than full time, are eligible for a reduction from the subscription on a pro-rata basis based on the percentage time worked. Required confirmation is accepted by email:
- Confirmation of your SAS Grade from your employer
- Working hours including start date and any completion date from your employer
Fellows and Members who are working less than full time, paying a full subscription rate, working in the NHS can apply for a pro-rata subscription based on the number of hours (sessions) working. Sessions are calculated by half days, for example: 1 day = 2 sessions. Required confirmation is accepted by email:
- Confirmation of hours(sessions) from your employer
Fellows and Members, paying a full subscription rate, who are on maternity or paternity leave for between one and twelve months are eligible for a pro rata reduction on their annual subscription. Normally applied in the first full subscription year after notification. Required confirmation is accepted by email:
- A copy of the MAT B1 certificate (or equivalent for overseas)
- Confirmation of your maternity/paternity leave period from your employer
Fellows and Members engaged in full-time, self-funding education who do not hold a salaried post are exempt from the subscription for the duration of their course. Required confirmation is accepted by email:
- Confirmation of the course, with commencement and completion dates from the University or Training institution.
- Confirmation of self-funding or not holding a salaried post
Fellows and Members working with an aid agency or charitable organisation who do not hold a salaried post are exempt from the subscription for the duration of their post. Required confirmation is accepted by email:
- Confirmation of the course/employment, with commencement and completion dates form the aid agency or charitable organisation.
If you become unemployed or are otherwise unable to meet your financial obligations, please contact us as soon as possible outlining your situation. We will treat each case sympathetically, and on its own merits. We may require confirmation of your status.
