Applications Sought for the Role of Honorary Secretary of the RCSEd Faculty of Dental Surgery

The post of Honorary Secretary of the RCSEd Faculty of Dental Surgery will become vacant in January 2025 following the retiral of Honorary Secretary Dr Stewart Barclay.  Applications for the post of Honorary Secretary are invited.

Applicants should be Dental Fellows in good standing with the College. The Honorary Secretary shall be appointed for an initial term of three years. The appointee will become an ex-officio member of Dental Council. It is anticipated that the time commitment will average at least one day per week or a higher requirement according to workload, with the post holder attending key Faculty of Dental Surgery committees and meetings in the College and working remotely from their existing base. 

A job description and application form are available below. The appointment shall be made following an interview process and the subsequent approval of Dental Council. The appointee to the role should shadow the incumbent Secretary for a period of up to three months, with attendance at least one meeting of Dental Council.

The incoming Honorary Secretary would be expected to attend the following activities (though if unable this will not preclude their appointment to the role):

Dental AGM: Friday 20 September

Dental Council: Thursday 5 December

The closing date for applications is 17:00 on Wednesday 17 July 2024. All applications and subsequent correspondence should be via email to dental@rcsed.ac.uk

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Tuesday 6 August 2024 via MS Teams or a suitable video conferencing platform.
