Surgeons’ News is Going Digital!

Published: 21 August 2023

As part of our efforts and commitment to improve our carbon footprint, the College is focusing on how we deliver our products in the most sustainable way possible and reducing waste where we can.

On average, we distribute around 125,000 printed Surgeons’ News magazines each year, and each of these printed issues is shipped to members and associated organisations across the globe. To achieve our aim of improving our carbon footprint and reducing waste, the College is taking Surgeons’ News digital.

By reducing paper, printing, and shipping, the College will ultimately be saving costs. Part of these savings will be invested back into Surgeons’ News by providing a new digital platform, delivering a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.

This new digital platform will allow our readers to navigate through the articles, stories, updates and more at ease. This platform is more interactive, including videos, animations, direct links to sources, activities, is mobile friendly, and easily accessed via the RCSEd App.

Initially, the September Edition of Surgeons’ News will be available on the new digital platform publicly. From December onwards, the new digital platform will be an exclusive RCSEd membership benefit.

The September Edition will be available on our new digital platform by the end of September. We will notify all members via email as soon as it's available, but in the meantime keep an eye on our social media channels for more news.

Although we are improving our efforts to reduce printing and shipping impacts of our magazine, we do appreciate that some members may require a printed copy for various reasons and are therefore providing an option to opt in to continue receiving the physical publication.

To opt in for a printed copy of the September Edition, you will need to let us know by 25 September 2023. If you are UK based, you will receive the paper copy by early October. If you are out with the UK, you will revive the paper copy by mid-October.

You can tell us what you’d like to receive by:
