The Faculty of Dental Surgery is pleased to announce the election of a new Dental Dean. Professor Grant McIntyre will take up his Deanship at the Dental AGM in September 2023 when the current Dean, Professor Phil Taylor will demit office.
Professor McIntyre is currently the Vice Dean and brings a wealth of experience to the role of Dean from his previous involvement with Dental Council and the Specialty Advisory Board for Orthodontics.
Professor Grant McIntyre commented:
"I am delighted to be Dean Elect for our wonderful Faculty of Dental Surgery and am looking forward to leading our Dental Council, Dental Executive and the wider Faculty during my term as Dean. I have a lot to learn and am fortunate to have such incredible professional and personal support both inside and beyond the College."
As honorary professor at Dundee Dental School, as clinical director for Tayside NHS Trust and holding a consultant post as a lead for facial deformity and cleft lip and palate, Grant is one of the foremost clinicians in the UK.
RCSEd Dental Dean, Professor Phil Taylor said on the announcement of the new position:
“We are delighted to welcome Professor Grant McIntyre to the role of Dean Elect of the Dental Faculty. Grant already comes to the job with a vast knowledge at senior level of both the workings of Dental Council as Vice Dean and as a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Orthodontics.”
