The RCSEd policy team was at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool this week to engage with key policy makers. We were pleased to hear Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves announce that it is now Labour Party policy to double the number of medical school places, a policy we have been calling for for some time, along with 5000 extra health visitors and 10,000 nursing and midwifery clinical placements.
The team had policy conversations and attended events with a number of policymakers, including Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting. This included a discussion on children’s dentistry and waiting times.
