Professor Michael Griffin OBE, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, announces the decision made regarding the next College CEO:
I am delighted to let you know that Tony Oxford has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer for our College.
The recruitment process was thorough and exacting, with both internal and external candidates of an extremely high quality. The recruiting panel was made up of Officer Bearers, Regents, Lay Committee Members and an external HR consultant with extensive experience in Healthcare and it was a two-stage process with three internal candidates making it to the first round of interview. The second stage of interviews included an informal session with a panel of internal and external stakeholders as well as the full interview panel.
I am very grateful to my panel for their counsel throughout this process. It was an extremely difficult decision as it is one that will have a lasting effect on the College long after my tenure.
We are delighted with the outcome and Tony will have the full support of staff, Council and Office Bearers as we move forward into this next stage of our 515-year journey.
Please join me in congratulating Tony on his appointment.
