The Surgical Skills Competition Grand Final took place at the College on Saturday 16 March. Students from 40 medical schools across the UK came together for a friendly competition to test their surgical skills.
The event was packed with activities like suturing bananas, anatomy tests, laparoscopic skills, and they even had the opportunity to practice with a combat tourniquet. This year, the top spot went to Tom Adamson, a second-year medical student from Newcastle University. Eric Dos Santos De Andrade from the University of Liverpool took the runner-up position, and Natalia Mojica from the University of Birmingham landed in third place.
To qualify for the final, students had to pass a quiz and score the highest in their medical school's skills box video competition. Congratulations also to the University of Birmingham for taking the top spot in the video round.
A big thank you to everyone involved, especially Medtronic, Angus Watson, and all the faculty and staff who made the day possible.
