As an organisation focused on improving standards of surgical care and patient outcomes, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is extremely concerned about the recent publication in the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) (“Laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by a surgical care practitioner: a review of outcomes”) detailing the experience of a Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) performing laparoscopic cholecystectomies.

The four Surgical Royal Colleges confirm changes for the May 2021 DO-HNS Part 2 (OSCE).
MRCS Part B (OSCE) May 2021
The four Surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and in Ireland can confirm that the May 2021 MRCS Part B (OSCE) will be delivered in-person, maintaining social distancing, in the previously stated exam window between 8 and 23 May 2021.
ICBSE Statement MRCS Part B exam July 2021
Following the decision to cancel the MRCS Part B examination in February 2021 because of the pandemic, ICBSE are giving notice that the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and in Ireland will hold an MRCS Part B OSCE between Saturday 3 and Sunday 11 July 2021.
