RCSEd Voices Concerns over SCPs Performing High-Risk Surgery
As an organisation focused on improving standards of surgical care and patient outcomes, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is extremely concerned about the recent publication in the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) (“Laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed by a surgical care practitioner: a review of outcomes”) detailing the experience of a Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) performing laparoscopic cholecystectomies.

Announcing the RCSEd Toffeln Travelling Fellowship

RCSEd has joined forces with Toffeln, a global provider of surgical and medical products, to offer trainees and early-career consultant surgeons an exciting new travelling fellowship opportunity. This programme provides a short-term surgical training experience that involves learning novel techniques or observing surgical practice in a centre of surgical excellence internationally or within the UK.

The RCSEd Dentsply Sirona Dental Clinical Skills Competition 2022/23 Grand Final took place last month, where 18 finalists were invited to compete in Edinburgh on Thursday 23 March. After an exciting yet intense day of competition, there could only be one winner and Gaeun Oh took 1st place representing the Queen University of London.
