With the month of August fast approaching, the city of Edinburgh is gearing up for ‘festival season’, when a wide range of internationally renowned cultural festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival and Festival Fringe, welcome visitors from all over the world.

As in previous years, we will be playing our part, with Surgeons Quarter, the commercial arm of The College, partnering with theatre production company, theSpaceUK to transform our Edinburgh campus into a bustling theatre venue comprising six performance spaces, a vibrant courtyard bar outside the Quincentenary Building and a chic gin and prosecco bar located on Hill Square. As theSpaceUK themselves say, theSpace @ Surgeons’ Hall ‘sits in its own buzzing courtyard and is a location few want to miss’.

Moira Walker, Marketing Manager for Surgeons Quarter said,

‘Last year, we had the pleasure of attracting in excess of 70,000 festival goers to Surgeons Quarter over a 3-week period during the Fringe and we expect to welcome a similar number this year. We hope all our guests appreciate the elegant surroundings and unique atmosphere of The College and enjoy the diverse theatre programme on offer. Working with the likes of theSpaceUK and being an official Festival Fringe venue supports our aim of positioning Surgeons Quarter as a premier venue in the city.’

If you are in the city during the month, we look forward to seeing you. Fellows and Members can use their privilege cards in any of the venues, as well as the Hotel and Café 1505 to receive a 15% discount on food and beverage. If you don’t have a privilege card, you can get one at the College reception desk.
