Today the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) put out a call for budding filmmakers to enter its 2017/1018 Video Competition. This year the focus is on the RCSEd’s successful #LetsRemoveIt anti-bullying campaign and wants videos that demonstrate examples of workplace best practice.
“This year's Video Competition will throw the spotlight on our nationwide anti-bullying campaign #LetsRemoveIt,” Judy Evans, RCSEd’s Honorary Secretary, explained. “We need to continue to build on the success of the campaign so far in challenging bullying and undermining behaviour. So, we’re inviting all UK and international medical students, doctors and trainees to get creative and demonstrate their understanding of how undermining and bullying behaviour not only affects those we work with, but also patient safety. Our panel of judges will be looking for a video that clearly demonstrates good practice and the impact it has on their colleagues and patient safety.
“The College is leading and supporting a cultural change in practice and performance to build a safe, more respectful workplace, and the video competition will help to provide a fresh focus on the #LetsRemoveIt campaign that will take it forward into 2018,” Judy said. “I would encourage members to look at the competition’s dedicated microsite and support the campaign.”
All entrants to the competition receive one year’s affiliation with the RCSEd Affiliate Network. The prize winner/s can choose to attend an RCSEd course (to the value of £150) or the RCSEd Triennial Conference, which come with a travel and accommodation package.
“The College has a zero tolerance approach to bullying, undermining and harassment, and since the launch of our #LetsRemoveIt campaign in June we have had overwhelming support from health professionals. I hope this year’s Video Competition will play its part in helping to inform and encourage all health professionals to change the culture in their workforce.”
