The Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) and its dental sub-group have published a revision to the antimicrobial prescribing guidance for the management of acute dentoalveolar infections.
The change is a simple one which means that Penicillin V is now the preferred 1st choice over Amoxicillin for the management of acute dentoalveolar infections.
Details can be downloaded from the Healthcare Improvement Scotland & SAPG website https://www.sapg.scot/media/5473/statement-on-pen-v-in-dental-infections.pdf.
