The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh welomes and supports a new app launched by the Doctors’ Association UK (DAUK) to help frontline healthcare professionals monitor supplies of personal protective equipment needed to protect staff and patients as they deal with COVID-19.

The app will enable doctors to report where they are getting adequate supplies but also help highlight areas where PPE is needed or where supplies need to be replenished.

Prof Michael Griffin OBE, President of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh said:

We are pleased to endorse DAUK’s important initiative, as it will help identify gaps in PPE provision and ensure supplies get through to doctors dealing with this unprecedented crisis.

The College has been working hard to ensure the current guidance around PPE is comprehensive and timely. So DAUK’s app will further help in the overall attempts to ensure planners allocate resources where they are needed and that doctors get sufficient quantities of equipment they need at this difficult time.
