The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is saddened to hear of the death of Fellow, Mr Abdul Mabud Chowdhury, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Homerton Hospital, on the 8th April 2020, due to COVID-19.
His colleague, Ms Jhumur Pati, had this to say on his achievements:
"Abdul graduated from Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh in 1992, trained in Surgery and worked in Zimbabwe between 1998- 2001. Moving to England in 2001, he worked in the NHS, moving through the ranks within Urological Surgery. His main passion and achievement, however, was building the charitable BKN Memorial Hospital & Research Centre in Bangladesh in 2010, in memory of his father-in-law Basher, his mother-in-law Kohinoor and his sister-in-law Nasim who tragically died in a car accident on the Chittagong highway. The hospital provides free clinics, diagnostics and medical care to the local rural people.
Abdul will always be remembered for his generous spirit, uncompromising integrity and his dedication to his patients and family. He leaves behind, a loving wife Rehana, son Intesar and daughter Wareesha."
The College is extremely grateful for all the work Mr Chowdhury has carried out in the care of his patients and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time.
