As a charitable trustee and Office-Bearer of the College, the Honorary Secretary plays a critical and high-profile role. The Honorary Secretary, working with other Office-Bearers and senior College staff, has specific responsibility, on behalf of Council, for overseeing the College’s governance and its compliance with internal Laws and Regulations. In addition, the Honorary Secretary may take on additional Office-Bearer duties and responsibilities, subject to individual capacity and agreement with the College President.
Following the interviews on 6 April, Clare McNaught has been appointed as Honorary Secretary to succeed Judy Evans in November 2020.
Ms Clare McNaught is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon. She was elected to Council in 2014 and was Regional Advisor for Yorkshire for three years. Clare is a College examiner, is on a number of College committees and was Chair of the Younger Fellows' Committee. She is Editor of Surgeons' News.
