Taking place on 27-28 April in Edinburgh, the inaugural Women in Leadership Conference will focus on female representation in the workplace. The event will be co-hosted by RCSEd and The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) on behalf of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.
Leading the Way
The Women in Leadership Conference will bring together a wealth of global experts and role models from healthcare, financial services and government. Prominent keynote speakers include Professor Dame Carrie McEwen, Chair of the General Medical Council (GMC), Dame Sally Davies, former Chief Medical officer of England, Dame Anne Richards, Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity International, and an organisational psychologist and NASA researcher, Professor Steven Yule. Topics such as enhancing opportunities for women in leadership, the gender pay gap, and driving growth and diversity for those looking to break into leadership positions will be explored.
A Welcome Collaboration
The College is delighted to be working with The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to make this conference a reality. Ms Clare McNaught, Vice-President of RCSEd, commented on the collaboration:
As the College’s first female Vice-President over the 517 years of the College history, creating greater opportunities for women in the healthcare profession is a subject close to my heart. I’m glad the College is playing a part in this special event which I’m sure will spark honest conversations on what it’s like to be a female working in healthcare and the ways in which we can improve and expand on leadership roles within the field.
The line-up for this event is impressive, with some of the best-known names in medicine coming to cover a wide range of topics, as well as leaders from completely different industries whose insights will be particularly useful. It is a joy to be working with our neighbour The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to co-host the conference.
Dr Kerri Baker, the RCPE’s Director of Education, also commented:
The RCPE and RCSEd, on behalf of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, are delighted to present a two-day event celebrating Women in Leadership.
The event will appeal to women in leadership positions, those aspiring to develop leadership skills or roles, NHS employers and educators, and allies to women in the workplace.
We will consider wide-ranging and topical subjects including exploring barriers and solutions to women in leadership, women's health and wellbeing, lessons from outwith medicine and how organisations can champion women, and we will hear how a collection of inspiring women succeeded in their fields.
The event will take place in-person at RCPE on Thursday 27 April and RCSEd on Friday 28 April.
Opportunities for both in-person and virtual participation are available. View the full programme and secure your place here.
